How to Use Paper-backed Veneers
Today, you can order paper-backed veneers with the optional 3m peel with adhesive. However, the standard veneer works just fine.
Once you’ve ordered paper-backed veneers, ensure the surface is clean, and then glue the veneers down. Apply the glue on the paper side to bond down the veneer.
Paper-backed veneers with stick adhesive are easier to use as you peel and stick on the clean surface.
You can use a knife, razor or scissors to cut paper-backed veneers as they are thin. Ensure you cut the veneer larger than the surface you plan to veneer. Once you have veneered the surface, trim the edges using any of the tools mentioned above to ensure you get an exact fit.
Glueing down veneers is relatively easy. Use carpenter’s glue or 2 coats of contact cement on each surface. Ensure you apply pressure with clamps and let dry for at least 24 hours.
